Overview

Beasley Park is situated in one of Hamilton’s oldest downtown neighbourhoods.  While the original park program remains essentially the same, the park was redesigned to significantly expand the existing skate park.

The existing play area and splash pad were moved to the interior of the park and are now visually connected to another play space on the adjacent Dr. E. Davey School site.

Preserving existing features of the skate park while blending new elements within a tight urban site presented significant challenges.  Underground utilities associated with an adjacent hydro station influenced design layout and construction.

The Beasley Neighbourhood Association and Hamilton Skateboard Assembly were active participants in the design process.

Consultant team members included exp Services Inc’s Hamilton office for structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, and the Canadian Ramp Company for skate park design.

The Beasley Park Redevelopment project was also a recipient of a 2018 Ontario Concrete Award for Architectural Hardscape to view all the press the project received visit our press release – Beasley Park Redevelopment – Ontario Concrete Awards
